Kulgam 13 November : Inhabitants of Butpora, Khospora, Darpora and Hanad in Chawalgam Kulgam are up in arms against the power development department as these areas reels under darkness for the last Seven days due to the technical snag in the electric Transformers.
Locals of these areas said the community electric transformer developed some fault and since then it have yet to be repaired.Residents of these areas said that are without electricity for the last 7 days and we were immensely suffering because of no power supply during the peak winters.
They lamented that because of no power or erratic supply, students were worst suffer as they are not able to Study.
The residents of these areas urged the administration to get the transformers repaired.
However the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) power development department (PDD) Kulgam Shabir Ahmad confirmed that the transformers of these 3 Mohallas of TownB i’e Chawalgam has been damaged from past 7 days, but it all due to overloading, as per investigation held by our field staff, every time the transformer gutted after 10 pm, which indicates that people are consuming electricity more than its capacity,
He said that we are not happy if people of any area will suffer but people should avoid overloading, they should not use heaters and boilers mostly in morning and evening times, otherwise they can face such situations in every area, however he assured that the transformers of these areas will be repaired within two days.
